  It appears that you can no longer get new lenses in old frames without leaving your glasses. Not an option for someone who is as nearsighted as I am. Because I take good care of my glasses and my prescription is stable it has been 6 years since I've needed to get new lenses. I was informed that they no longer have enough business to handle the lens replacement the way they did the last time (having the blanks ground to the prescription and then fitted in the shop). So much for small opticians! I guess I will have to visit one of the large chain establishments. I know they job out the work to labs as well, but with their volume I would guess that will have better turnaround time.
